About Prayer, what God wants us to do, praying by acting from Jakob Lorber.

Revelation by Jakob Lorber, the Prophet.

About Prayer

The greatest power at man's free disposal is prayer. Unfortunately, few people are aware of this today. But we should pay attention to the fact that all thoughts we have ever thought will return to us and materialize. But this is not all. For all of eternity, we will not get rid of our thoughts and, after the death of the body, will take them with us to the next life. There, they will be the basis of our new life. But, if we know that all the bad thoughts return to us isn't it foolish and negligent to ever think about anything bad? Thus we should control our thoughts.

Unfortunately, it often happens in daily life that people do not live harmoniously, bother each other, and turn life into a hell. If we consider that, without exception, we descend from our ancestors Adam and Eve and thus are all brothers and sisters, we should place our life together on a new and improved basis. With the help of prayer, we can do that!

If it should happen that someone behaves unkindly toward us, we should not react negatively but think instead: "May you, dear friend, be blessed by me in the name of Jesus! May Jesus help you! Amen." If we make such freely formulated prayer into a habit, we will not only make life easier for ourselves, but we will help our fellow men. But we must have patience. Even though we could explode with anger, we should practice forgiveness.

Often we experience some kind of anguish and don't know what to do. How good it is when we can turn to Jesus at any time and pour out our hearts in prayer. Whoever, with an honest heart, asks Jesus for help will experience that help and be comforted- if he is truly serious about keeping the 12 commandments (the Ten Commandments given to Moses and the two commandments to love God and your neighbour). We can also pray for the souls who we know, who do not keep God's Commandments. If we present the Gospel to them out of love, this will have a positive effect on these souls.

On prayer, here a few examples from the original text.

What God wants us to do

[HHG.01.001,04] (=Household of God) Tell those who seek Me: I am the true 'everywhere' and 'nowhere'. I am everywhere where people love Me and keep My commandments and nowhere where I am only praised and worshipped. For is not love more than prayer and the keeping of the commandments more than worship? Verily, verily, I say to you: He who loves Me worships Me in spirit, and he who keeps My commandments is the one who truly reveres Me. But only he who loves Me can keep My commandments, and the one who loves Me has only one commandment - that he love Me and My living Word which is the true everlasting life.

We should pray to the Father not to God

   9. "You shall not pray to God Who is holy, holy, holy, but only to the Father's love; for to God all men are an abomination - only to the Father are they children.

   10. "God's holiness is inviolable, but the Father's love descends to the children.

Praying for the Deceased

[Gifts of Heaven GH.01-40.10.28,10] [The Lord:] "Since it has been asked, and by a beloved soul, I will tell you how one should pray for the deceased.

[11] Whoever wants to pray for the deceased must know who the deceased are and how and why he should pray.

[12] By the deceased, we do not mean just those who have departed from the world. Rather, it is a matter of those living in the world, which have died in their hearts and have no faith or love - so they are truly dead.

[13] You should pray for such people with words and deeds, shining before them like a sun for the tired wanderer through sand and deserts, and refreshing them like the dew that has fallen on the dry moss of the hard rock. This is so that they may find themselves again in You, as the boundary marks of My grace and might heal from the moss of My grace, which has overgrown My landmarks.

Where do we find Jesus?

[GH.01_41.07.31,05] [The Lord:] "So, if you are seeking Me, you must seek Me in you and not with others. Can He be sought in a foreign land, Who is at home in you and awaits you? As you do not live your life in a stranger's body but in your own, so you must begin to live Me in yourself and seek Me in you. There you will find Me. It is for you that I live only in you. And, if it were not so, how would you like to live, breathe, think, feel, perceive, sense, and then pray to Me?

Admonition to Guard and Pray due to eminent Danger

[GH.48.07.11, 01] [The Lord:] "Watch and pray so that you do not fall into temptation. For Satan is going around like an enraged lion and trying to devour all human beings. He will leave no means untried to cool his great revenge because his true followers, the ruling hydra, have been hit on the head. He will divide peoples so that they strangle themselves as they are starting to do it now. I say starting - for all that has happened until now is only the start of a beginning.

[02] I say he will leave no means untried to quench his boundless revenge. He will seize each person at his weakest point and will strangle and spoil him, as soon as a man moves away from Me in his heart even for just one minute. So it is most serious - life or death! For everything will now be most massively uprooted. What is the Devil's should remain the Devil's, and what is Mine should be Mine forever!

Praying with the whole body

[GGJ.02.111.06] [The Lord:] "However, man still can pray with feet, hands, eyes, ears and lips; namely with feet if he goes to the poor and brings them assistance and consolation; with the hands if he grabs the needy under the arms; with the eyes if he loves looking at the poor; with the ears if it pleases him to listen to God's word actively and does not close them in front of the poor; and finally with the lips if it pleases him to talk to the poor, desolate widows and orphans in a comforting manner and according to his power and strength speaks a mitigating word on behalf of prisoners to those who often imprison innocent people, so that they can be released.

Praying for the enemy

[03_008,06] Every one of My disciples must also be full of love, gentleness and patience towards every man, just as I am. He must bless his worst enemy just as much as his best friend and must, when the opportunity arises, do good to him who has done him harm beforehand, and pray for those who persecute him.

[03_008,07] Anger and revenge must be far from the heart of anyone who wants to be My disciple; he must not complain about the bitter events on this Earth or even begin to grumble about it in annoyance.

Praying by acting

GGJ.04.001.15] The only prayer from the spirit which appeals to Me, does not consist in the movement of the tongue, the mouth and the lips, but only in the active practice of love. Of what value is it to you if you have decorated the grave of a prophet with a considerable weight of gold, but have failed to hear the voice of a suffering brother?! Do you think that pleases Me? How foolish! I will look upon you with angry eyes, because you have preferred to listen to a corpse and failed to hear the voice of a living person!"

The true way of praying

[17] God in Himself is a Spirit of the highest wisdom and He has the very deepest and clearest mind, and is the eternal Truth Himself. So he, who wishes to pray to God effectively, must pray in spirit and truth. However, only the one, who is going into the quiet love chamber of his heart, and in it, will be worshipping and invoking God, will be praying in spirit and truth. And God, who perceives all hearts and kidneys, will surely also see into your heart and recognize for sure how and for what you are praying and asking, and He will give you what you have so truly prayed for in spirit and in truth.
